We’re delighted to announce that our very own Matthew Walne has recently earned the title of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
For over 30 years, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification has been seen as the standard of excellence. A CFP® is one of the most widely sought-after qualifications in the financial planning profession, as well as one of the most respected.
To earn CFP® status, individuals must demonstrate and practice on an ongoing basis three key criteria:
- The highest level of technical knowledge through professional qualifications
- Commitment to the ongoing development of personal skills and knowledge
- A strict adherence to ethical conduct.
However, the most important aspect of being a CFP® is their duty to ensure decisions are made solely with their clients’ best interests in mind. This means that you can be confident you’ll receive only the best possible advice, service and support from those with this prestigious accreditation.
We’re proud of Matthew for earning this recognition, and it’s a just reward for his continuous dedication to clients and his hard work.
When asked about qualifying as a Certified financial planner, Matthew told us:
“This is a great personal achievement for me, especially as the long journey to achieve success has been filled with setbacks. Including the death of my mum, in February 2021, after a brief illness, during my first submission of the case study.
I could have easily quit and taken the easy option, but that was never a consideration. I’m immensely proud to be one of 905 CFP professionals in the UK and 203,312 globally*.”

What does this mean for our clients?
As mentioned above, to be a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, a financial planner has to adhere to a strict code of conduct and ensure they continue to meet the CFP® standards. This means that you’re able to work with Matthew with full confidence in the knowledge that the advice you receive will be given strictly with you in mind. All decisions made will be solely focused on you, ensuring you get the most out of your money to suit your needs.
To maintain CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ status, Matthew must not only maintain technical competence but fulfil ethical obligations as well. This involves completing at least 35 hours of continuing professional development each year. Because of this, Matthew is continuously keeping up to date with developments in the financial planning profession, and what impact they may have on you.
