Matthew Walne of Santorini Financial Planning has been recognised as the 100th UK Financial Planner to achieve ISO 22222 standard.The standard, issued by Standards International, recognises Financial Planners who reach a benchmark for high standards of financial advice.
This includes ethical behaviour, risk management, data protection, client confidentiality among others.
Mr Walne said the process was tough but that he felt proud to have achieved the standard.
He said: “I wanted to differentiate myself from most other advisers. The process was tough and it made me think about things that are in my processes that never occurred to me before. I feel like part of a special community and feel very proud to have achieved it.”
He says he is also in the process of completing BS8577 and hopes to be awarded that soon. BS8577 is another standard which complements ISO22222 and recognises the standards of the business as opposed to the standards of the individual.
He will be re-assessed every year to ensure he continues to offer an ongoing high standard to his clients.
Mr Walne is now looking to start preparations for the Level 6 Certified Financial Planner certification.
Other Financial Planners who have received ISO22222 standard are Trusted Planning in Cheshire, MFP Wealth Management in Dorset and Penguin in South Wales.
