My name is Pete Henson. I’ve been working with Matthew at Santorini for about two years now.

When I first went to Santorini, I had a couple of things I really needed to sort out. One of my existing pension providers was changing the way a particular pension was set up, and I’d got a decision to make, and I really needed to sit down and discuss that with somebody who could access all the necessary information and help me make the right decision for me and my future.

I wanted somebody relatively local, because I wanted somebody I could sit down and talk to face to face. I was really focusing on the local area, and when I saw Santorini and where they are, it suited me to pick somebody in Barrow.

When I first contacted Matthew, I found him easy to talk to. I’ve always been very, very protective of all the information around my pensions, I’m not somebody who trusts other people easily. But I did find Matthew easy to talk to, and he seemed open and honest, and that was why I wanted that face-to-face way of working rather than doing everything over the phone.

It’s nice to know that there’s somebody there who can look after your interests and that you can go to them when you’ve got questions.

My main reason for contacting Santorini was to be prepared for retirement. I feel like I’ve got some security around that. If it weren’t for having Santorini there in the background, I wouldn’t feel at all confident about that. I really needed somebody to help me and reassure me that the investments I’ve got were set up as well as they could be.

When I’m working with Matthew, the things that are important are that I need to be able to have somebody to trust and I need to be able to talk to somebody face to face. I know not everybody will be able to do that, but that was important for me. I feel like I’ve got somebody who’s got my best interests at the front of their mind when they’re dealing with me and my finances.

The important thing about working with Santorini was the proximity of them and the fact that I could deal with Matthew face to face. The main thing for me was trust and dealing with somebody I feel that I can trust, and having that face-to-face contact with him for me personally was very important.

I recommend Matthew and Santorini to other people. I’ve found that really good; they worked really well for me. The way Matthew works and the way you discuss it, he’s prepared to discuss things with you. I find that really good. If you want that personal service with somebody that you feel you can trust, I think Matthew’s a good person for that.
